Jes | DJ, Producer, & Founder of Fresca Recordings
Born in Mexico and raised in Chicago, Jes has been immersed in the city's rich musical culture since the early 1980s. Developing a passion for music at a young age, he recognized early on that sound would be his lifelong pursuit. Growing up on Chicago’s West Side, Jes witnessed many of his peers succumb to the cycles of gang violence. Choosing a different path, he dedicated himself to musical expression as a means of reaching a higher state of being. By transmuting the challenges of his youth into creative fuel, Jes used his experiences to propel his dreams and sharpen his drive to succeed.
Jes has continued his journey of musical evolution, maturing into a respected professional DJ, producer, and business owner. His passion for the craft remains as vibrant today as when he first began.
A Pioneer of the Underground
A true fixture of the Chicago underground for over a decade, Jes has emerged as a leading DJ, producer, and remixer. He is widely recognized as an original house pioneer, a reputation solidified by his long-term residency at Chicago’s legendary venue, The Warehouse. Today, he remains an integral force within the underground electronic scene, utilizing his technical precision and innate talent to deliver the kind of soulful energy only music can communicate. While his style is famously versatile, his commitment to quality is never compromised.
Labels and Collaborations
Jes’s entrepreneurial spirit led to the founding of Fresca Recordings. With fifty-two (52) successful releases to date, the label has garnered significant media and industry acclaim. Beyond his own imprint, Jes continues to showcase his production prowess through collaborations with esteemed labels such as NRK Sound Division, Siesta Music, IHR, Rumors, Moody Recordings and Camouflage Records.
Community & The Conjugate Project
Jes remains deeply committed to Chicago’s cultural arts, frequently performing at events for local nonprofit organizations. Since the inception of the Conjugate Project, he has been a vital contributor to the musical direction of these initiatives, merging art and music to create unique environments that celebrate digital culture.
